Originating from New York in the 1930s, hoodies were invented by Knickerbocker Knitting Company, which we now know today as Champion. Now, hoodies are a staple for everyone, coming in all shapes and styles. Here are a few styles that have come to life over all this time.
After Hood Sweatshirt
These are the early days of the hoodie. The afterhood is a crewneck sweatshirt with a hood attached after the crewneck is completed. This creates a look where the collar can be seen inside the hood, unlike modern hoodies.
Scarf Hoodie
Very interesting alternative to having to wear a scarf on top of your hoodie. Definitely one of my favorites.
Cowl Neck Hoodie
Cowl hoodies have a certain shape where the neck is covered for warmth. They have the same idea as rain and snow jackets.
Pocket Variance
Hoodies can have various pocket shapes, the most common being the kangaroo pocket (orange). The double pouch pockets (green) and the glove pockets (grey) are more uncommon types.
Zip-Up Hoodie
Hoodies with zippers. Jacket hoodie.
Double-Zip Hoodies
Zip hoodies with two zippers. I will always prefer these over single zippers since they offer way more styling opportunity.
As you can see, there is an abundance of different styles for a single piece of clothing that will continue to grow. I am sure there are far more styles that I have not covered, so I will continue to add those that I see!
